Secret of happiness according to my home

(As texted in by my friend T.)

What's the secret of happiness? I found the answer in my home. The WALL says BE STRONG. The CEILING says AIM HIGH. The DOOR says BE OPEN. The WINDOW says LEARN to GIVE and TAKE. The CLOCK says TIME IS GOLD. The CALENDAR says LOVE EVERYDAY as if it is the last day. The CABINET says KEEP THINGS in ORDER. The BED says TAKE TIME TO RELAX. The LAMP says BE the LIGHT. And GOD, who is found everywhere in my house says, KEEP THE FAITH BECAUSE I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS.

The paradoxes of being a “servant-leader”

Strong enough to be weak
Successful enough to fail
Busy enough to make time
Wise enough to say, “I don’t know”
Serious enough to laugh
Rich enough to be poor
Right enough to say, “I’m sorry”
Compassionate enough to discipline
Mature enough to be childlike
Important enough to be last
Planned enough to be spontaneous
Controlled enough to be flexible
Free enough to endure captivity
Knowledgeable enough to ask questions
Loving enough to be angry
Great enough to be anonymous
Responsible enough to play
Assured enough to be rejected
Victorious enough to lose
Industrious enough to relax
Leading enough to serve

(Poem by Brewer, as cited by Hansel, in Holy Sweat, Dallas Texas, Word, 1987. (p29)

Freedom vs. obedience

"Where is the freedom in a slavish obedience? Aren’t we made for much more than that? Aren’t we made for conformity to Christ—a conformity fueled by love and not fear?"

'Wealth'/'Treasure'

Jesus himself wants to be our true contentment. He wants to fill our greatest needs and satisfy our deepest desires. Jesus asks us, “Am I not enough for you? Is my love not sufficient? Is my provision not sweet? Are the gifts and talents I’ve given you not a treasure?” It’s not a matter of resigning ourselves to less but of letting the Lord open our eyes to who he is and to all that he has given us. As we do, we’ll find the Spirit leading us into a life of fulfillment and fruitfulness so amazing that we’ll have neither the desire nor the time to compare ourselves to anyone else!

“You are my portion, Lord! Teach me to be content in you and in whatever you choose for me, for in you is the fullness of joy.”

Txt msgs

When your down to nothing, God is up to something. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible.

When we sigh about our problems, they grow double, but when we laugh about them, they become bubbles.

Each morning we face the day without knowing what lies ahead. Nevertheless, beyond this uncertainty stands the certainty that God cares.

God measures the person with the burdens he puts on him. So when you feel your load is heaveir than the rest, be happy for God sees you stronger than the rest.

I asked God, "How do I get the best out of life?" God answered: "Face your past without regret, handle your present with confidence, prepare for the future without feat." Then he added, "Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and never doubt your beliefs. Life is wonderful if you know how to live."

Let this season of Lent remind us all that our life and our material possessions are just being lent to us. We are all passing by. We are not immigrants here. We are all pilgrims on the road. We bring nothing when we die, but we can leave behind the love we have shared, the hope we have given and the goodness we have done.

Find out what makes you happy, and follow what your heart tells you. They may call you foolish, but at least you are a happy fool, not a lonely, empty, wise person.

Real love is the look in someone's eyes that is meant for you alone, a gentle kiss that says everything will be fine, a hand held in just the right way at just the right time, a secret told by one heart guarded by another, a belief that somoeone knows you as no one else can, the little day to day acts of thoughtfulnes that go unmentioned but not unnoticed, a feeling that no matter where you are, thedeepest part of you remains with the one you love,a dream that comes true with time and trust and little luck. Love is a promise of forever.

If you keep doing wat you;ve always done, you'll always get what you always got. So when you want something you've never had, you've got to do something you've never done.
